It is not always good news from Greece; the financial crisis is one of the most negatively known issues, and hopefully it will be developed quickly to the positive. In addition, the country is naturally due to sines tourism, international acquaintances (ouzo or Retsina-wine) are known here, but also because of its music, and it’s not the music of the learners like Vicky Leandros or Nana Mouskouri, but also rock and Heavy Metal. The latter genre is to assign the music of the group ILLUSORY metallic rocking, always Melodic! Originally based in 1992, some line-up and name change followed over the years, but now the formation stands and is ready to conquer Europe. This is best to implement with a new album, then the Greeks also thought, so no money was spared and recorded new album “Polysyllabic”. The metalheads expect 14 songs (including introduction), which all, more or less, rock the way to the ears. We recommend “… A New Beginning“,” System’s Decay” and the over ten minutes long, epic “Swan Song“. Stylistically as well as vocally, ILLUSORY remind me of the German band Axxis. If you like melodically rocking metal, you should always take an album like that!
Founded in 1992, the Greek Heavy Metal Band ILLUSORY can already look back accordingly on approximately twenty-five years of band history. After the renaming of Blessed Death to Ivory Tower (similar name with a German band) up to ILLUSORY, to stomp their second full length from the ground “Polysyllabic“. This symphonic, gloomy intro “In The Beginning…” goes to the hook opener “… A New Beginning“, about to play the progressive side, especially in the instrumental part. After the somewhat meaner “Bleak“, they are putting an exclamation point with the atmospheric and dramatic beginning of “Dreamshade“, before the rhythmic “Odd -Y-Sea” scores with an accessible chorus. The galloping “Insangel” will be leading to the pounding “Polysyllabic Thoughts” before “Last Fallen Angel” exudes a lightly oriental touch. “The Eyes Of Hades” is waiting with nasal chanting and minting guitars. Crunchy riffs in “Solitary Nomad” and then the groovy “One Sad Moment Of Existence” is slapped down. The driving “System’s Decay” ultimately paved the way for the ten minutes epic “Swan Song” and thus makes the lid on a varied and successful piece of work, but without an outstanding exception title.
Dear all,
Last Sunday night was a total bliss! “Dreamshade” video was initially aired on television on TV WAR @ Mad TV and today it’s being featured on YouTube, on 7hard/7us media group Official Channel. “Dreamshade” is the first Official Music Video for the “Polysyllabic” album, following Official Lyric (Odd-Y-Sea) and Official Audio (Last Fallen Angel).
It is one of the most complete and professional videos ever made in Greece; it’s a actually a short film, featuring a production equal – to say the least – to respective productions abroad. This video is the very artistic vision of director Maria Chatzigianni. Maria and her amazing team deeply astonished us when they first laid down their thoughts about “dressing up” our song. The final outcome is a true triumphant result for them.
The starring of our story is one of the greatest Greek actors ever. Dimitris Alexandris is a huge star, a theatre / cinema / television colossal actor and maybe the best of his generation. The hero of “Dreamshade” honored us with his unique presence and no words, not even thanks are enough to describe such a bliss. It is his very first appearance on a video during his illustrious career and the fact that he said yes to a Heavy Metal band means a lot. Especially since he’s also well-known for his careful and selective moves concerning such matters.
Yet, a video like that is most of all and above all a result of team work. In that manner, we would like to express our gratitude to all the actors that participated, Athanasios Lazarou on cello, the magical choir of Voice Box, the entire production team and all technical personnel, who made these two days of shooting, which lasted more than a whole week – trust us on that one – and made the dream come true.
